My Dermaplaning Experience
I recently won a giveaway with Hello Perfect and when they told me I won a dermaplaning session, I was elated as I have been wanting to try dermaplaning for the longest time.
What is Dermaplaning? It is a physical exfoliation procedure. It requires the use of a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently “shave” the skin’s surface, removing the top-most layer of dead skin along with fine, vellus hair (aka peach fuzz). – culled from www.truthinaging.com. (So all of you shaving your face with the Twinkle blades for eyebrows are just shaving not dermaplaning).
I arrived 5 minutes before my appointment and was ushered into the consulting room to meet with the medical aesthetician. She asked a few questions and was concerned about my jaw area as I told her I had laser done previously. She mentioned I should be hair free by now given the number of sessions I have had and to be honest, it has been on my mind too. She also noticed I had hyperpigmentation as well (surprise!).
She gave me a quick tour of the clinic and I went to get my treatment. I changed into a robe and she started by cleansing my face with a gentle cleanser and when it was dry she commenced dermaplaning using a #10 surgical blade and explaining every step of the way which I really liked. Guys I know the thought of a surgical blade on your face is scary but this was relaxing and it is easy to doze off during treatment…LOL! I did not though as I wanted to capture every moment for this post.
After dermaplaning, which didn’t take too long at all and was painless, she followed with a vitamin C enzyme masque and steamed for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the masque was taken off and extractions done. I did not have too many blackheads thankfully.
She then applied a liquid…I think she called it the pollution defense or so (was an ampoule) and then LED light therapy. This is my first time trying this and I was quite fascinated. The blue light for blood circulation to speed up healing and the red to treat the breakout on my forehead.
When the light therapy was done, she applied a light moisturiser and sunscreen and I was done. She also discussed after care as well as treatment options for hyperpigmentation and laser hair removal.
Overall, I really enjoyed this treatment as though it was a giveaway, I was treated like a paying client, treatment was not rushed, everything being done and applied was explained, polite staff and really lovely space. I usually don’t use this term “GOALS” but the skin on the owner of the clinic……DANGGGGGGG!!!!!!!
Cost of treatment– I usually do not like mentioning prices of treatments anywhere I go as they are subject to change and it also depends on what treatment you need. I would suggest going in for a consultation but what I would tell you is this is great value for money as it is two treatments in one especially compared to what my friend paid in the US for the exact treatment.
I will definitely be back for more treatments here and I highly recommend them. Guess who is already saving for her peel????
Have you been here? What treatment did you get? What treatment do you plan to get?
