Review – Krave Beauty

A long overdue review of Krave Beauty……..

When I heard Liah Yoo was coming out with a skincare line, I was super excited as I watch her on YouTube and I find her videos really helpful. Krave Beauty was launched in 2018 with the #PressReset slogan as the idea behind the brand is simple and gentle skincare – a break from the harsh and numerous products most of us use.

“I created KraveBeauty to help you #PressReset on your skincare routine and all the noise from the beauty industry. You’ll find KraveBeauty different from other brands in many ways. We believe everything we do can eventually turn the flawed beauty industry into a more transparent place. A place that really cares about our skin instead of just profits. We can’t create the change without you, so please join us on the #PressReset journey!” – Liah Yoo

  • All KraveBeauty products are vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and formulated without fragrance, essential oil, colorant.

The brand launched with the Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser and the Kale-lalu-yaha – a gentle Exfoliating toner and later launched Beet the Sun SPF 47 which was initially available only in South Korea but rebranded as The Beet Shield for the US market due to regulations

I used the entire set and I am just about to run out so I felt a review was due. I previously bought the cleanser with my own money but the entire set are presents from friends

Here are my thoughts on the products:

Matcha HempHydrating Cleanser  $16

What is it?  An antioxidant cleanser that doesn’t mess up your skin barrier, lifting everything your skin doesn’t want while leaving what it needs—healthy pH, hydration, antioxidants and no irritation. Matcha and hemp seeds are here to boost the skin’s intake of antioxidants and essential fatty acids. pH 5.0 – 6.0
IngredientsCamellia Sinensis Leaf Water, Water, Glycerin, Coco-Betaine, Methyl Gluceth-10, Ethoxydiglycol, Dipropylene Glycol, Methylpropanediol, Sodium Chloride, Butoxydiglycol, Diglycerin, Glycereth-26, Xanthan Gum, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Powder, Quillaja Saponaria Bark Extract, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Diethoxydiglycol, Coco-Glucoside, Caprylyl Glycol, Glyceryl Caprylate, Decyl Glucoside, Pentylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Butylene Glycol, Octanediol, Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Citric Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sodium PCA, Disodium EDTA
Performance: This quickly rose to my “Hall of Fame” products as I loved it from the first use. It was gentle, cleansed without stripping and my skin felt comfortable after each use. Smells of matcha (formulated with 40% matcha) and I love the texture. I used this as a morning or second cleanse and this is my 3rd tube which says a lot. I will always repurchase this! If you need a gentle and affordable cleanser then it is this one. Suitable for all skin types. If you are on Duac Gel or Retin A both of which may be drying, this is a perfect second cleanser to give you a break from acid cleansers.

Kale-lalu-yaha $25

What is it? Skin resurfacing exfoliator that kicks your dead skin cells to the curb, revealing youthful, healthier skin while also feeding it delicious antioxidants from dark, leafy greens. pH 3.5 – 4.0

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water, Water, Butylene glycol, Brassica Oleracea Acephala Leaf (Kale) Extract, Glycolic acid, 1,2-Hexanediol, Potassium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Spinacia Oleracea (Spinach) Leaf Extract, Carum Petroselinum (Parsley) Extract, Chlorella Minutissima Extract, Malus Domestica Fruit (Green apple) Extract, Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Betaine Salicylate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Allantoin, Pseudozyma Epicola/Camellia Sinensis Seed Oil/Glucose/Yeast Extract Ferment Filtrate, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Bacillus/Folic acid/Soybean ferment extract, Coptis Japonica Root Extract, Malachite Extract, Polysorbate80, Disodium EDTA

Performance: this is the one product from the brand that was meh for me but that is due to the fact that I currently use really strong acids not because it is a bad product. It contains 5.25% glycolic acid which puts it in the same category as Pixi Glow Tonic. This is perfect for an acid newbie or those who suffer from acne on the chest, back or shoulders. I passed it on to my friend who has never tried acids.

Beet the Sun SPF 47 (Korea) The Beet Shield (US) $20

What is it? A gentle, antioxidant-rich day fluid that protects your skin from harsh environmental stressors.

Ingredients: Water, Butyloctyl Salicylate, Dibutyl Adipate, Beta Vulgaris (Beet) Root Extract, Alcohol, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Ethylhexyl Triazone, Glycerin,  Pentylene Glycol, Isoamyl p-Methoxycinnamate, Polysilicone-15, Inulin Lauryl Carbamate, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Tromethamine, Methylpropanediol, Isohexadecane, Caprylyl Glycol, Glyceryl Caprylate, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, 1,2-Hexanediol, Polysorbate 80, Lithospermum Erythrorhizon Root Extract, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Sorbitan Oleate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Allantoin, Epigallocatechin Gallate, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Butylene Glycol, Resveratrol

Performance: this is one of the most elegant formulas I have ever tried. It sinks in beautifully, ZERO white cast, moisturising and hydrating. A typical Korean sunscreen! Amazing!!!I carry it around in my purse as I find that it is perfect for reapplication even over my make up. As Lagos is pretty hot it did separate a little but once you shake it properly you are good to go and this did not affect the formula. I would compare this to Biore Aqua Rich or Earth’s Recipe Waterful Sun Gel or the BodyShop Protection Essence. As with Korean sunscreens, the formula is right but I don’t think it is ‘enough’ for Lagos. If your routine is acid heavy like mine then you may need something “more”. This is definitely not the sunscreen for the peak of summer but a good product nonetheless. DON’T TAKE THIS TO DUBAI….LOL

Final Verdict: Overall, this is a great and affordable brand. I only wish it was readily available worldwide but its a new brand and I know they will expand soon

I hope this review helped you and you enjoyed reading it. Have you tried any product from Krave Beauty? What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comment section
