Those who have followed me for a while know how much I love Garden of Wisdom serums. I have had a few of their serums in rotation for about 2 years or more and while they have a huge selection of products from serums to toners to moisturisers and facial oils, I will highlight the five I love and will continue to add to my routines
Garden of Wisdom (GoW) skin care and serums promote a natural, gentle approach for the treatment of skin concerns encouraging skin balance and stability. The serums incorporate the least number of inactive ingredients allowing the actives to work more effectively than many other serums currently available on the market. GoW serums use therapeutic strength of actives in order to improve the appearance of skin. Whether you are suffering from acne, hyperpigmentation or are looking for an anti-ageing serum, there is a Garden of Wisdom skin serum for you.-VH website
There is sometimes a bit of confusion regarding the brand but no…you are not seeing things, there is a US site but based on EU restrictions, Pharmacist Shabir Daya was able to take some of their products and reformulate to pass EU regulations so the ones on the US site are different from the ones on the UK site. All their products are under £20 but don’t let that fool you into thinking they are not effective.
So here is a round-up of my top 5 products from GoW
- Azelaic Acid Serum
This used to be formulated with 10% Azelaic acid which gave it a gritty feel but it was recently reformulated with 12% Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate, an azelaic acid derivative, with a silky smooth texture. This truly underrated serum helps combat rosacea, inflammation and hyperpigmentation and is a gentle yet highly effective acne treatment. It can be used day and night and pairs well with niacinamide, alpha arbutin and hyaluronic acid.
- Alpha Arbutin 2% and Kojic Acid 1% serum
If you are dealing with hyperpigmentation, then arbutin should be in your arsenal of products. A derivative of hydroquinone yet effective and “safe”. It is formulated with kojic acid as well as niacinamide, mulberry and sodum ascorbyl palmitate, a stable for of vitamin C and this makes it more powerful for reducing pigmentation. Alpha Arbutin and Kojic Acid Serum helps correct uneven skin tone, age spots, freckles, melasma and hyperpigmentation. Can be used day and night
- Niacinamide Serum
The first product I tried from the brand. Contains 5% Niacinamide which is the minimum percentage to get results. Niacinamide is the ultimate multi-tasker as it regulates oil production, visibly improves pore appearance, helps promote brighter skin tone to minimize dark spots, hydrates the skin, repairs compromised barriers. I especially love to use this before my retinol serum. Can be used day and night
- Mandelic Acid 10% Serum
You will always hear me say “don’t glycolic your skin to death”. This is because glycolic acid may be too irritating for some and mandelic acid has been proven to be effective for pigmentation on black skin. While this says it is a serum, it is the consistency of a toner and I used it as one. So the nights I use it; double cleanse, mandelic serum (applied with my hands or cotton sheet), niacinamide serum or alpha arbutin or retinol. I won’t use this with Good Genes. Used maximum 3 nights a week.
- Hyaluronic Acid Serum
I did not pay attention to this but someone got it and said she preferred it to Jordan Samuel Hydrate!!!!!! Of course I had to try it and I loved itttttt. Hydrating and not tacky. I think it contains 1% hyaluronic.
That’s it…all five serums I love from GoW. Other notable mentions are the retinol serums which are perfect for retinol newbies.
