Ridiculously Simple Skincare Routine For Lazy People/Beginners

I know most of you look at my routines on my Instagram page like “who has the time for all this?”….However, if you have skin concerns or you want glowing skin, you need to stick to a skincare routine. It is really easy to get confused looking at pages on Instagram or watching YouTube videos especially for beginners and you see ten products or more and you wonder what goes where?

So because I am really nice (LOL), here is a very simple, fuss- free routine for morning and evening to kickstart your journey towards better skin.

AM Routine

Cleanse: I know some people hear “cleanser” and think of “toners”. Back in the day, Ten-O-Six,  SeaBreeze etc were called cleansers …so for the purpose of this post we would use the term “face wash”. You need to wash your face in the morning…every morning. No sponge in the bath, no flannel just your hands (but if you want to use a flannel, it is totally fine)

Treat: Here you can use a vitamin c serum(recommended) or niacinamide or hyaluronic acid serum. It depends on your skincare concern

Protect: follow with a moisturizing sunscreen…NOT a moisturizer with sunscreen. I see some of you with Olay with SPF 15. That won’t do anything for you. Get products like the Obagi sunscreen, Eucerin oil control, Innisfree Perfect UV protection, Earths Recipe Waterful Sungel or Elta MD. I am not a fan of skipping moisturizer but that might be the only way to get you to wear sunscreen but if you do decide to get a separate moisturiser, get a light one you can use day and night. Don’t forget to reapply throughout the day

PM Routine

Chances are you applied make up during the day but even if you did not, you need to double cleanse to take off the sunscreen properly. I have heard people say sunscreen breaks them out, while this might be true due to the ingredients, you need to look at your skincare practices as well. Again…I am not a fan of wipes but if you must use wipes, look for alcohol and fragrance free ones or better still, get micellar water

Cleanse: wipe off the first layer of gunk with a cotton pad and micellar water (this is your first cleanse) then go in with your actual face wash. It can be the same wash from morning but if it is drying, you may need to change it.

Treat: after you have washed your face, pat dry then use your treatment for the night. This could be a niacinamide, hyaluronic acid or retinol serum and follow with a moisturiser (remember your moisturiser from morning)

Points to Note

  • If you have active acne, you may need to swap the night serums for Retin A or Differin. Better still, see a professional
  • Don’t go to bed with make up
  • Don’t pick your face
  • Buy products for your skin concern
  • Be consistent

That is all….(simple enough eh???)

If you do try this routine, let me know how easy it was to stick to. You can also read up on building your routine here and my day and night routines here and here

Pls, Is it okay to use niacinamide and alpha Arbutin both day and night as treatment? And retinol too at night while using theses two?

Thanks so much. I’ve been consistent for 2months now, hopefully my acne will disappear enough for me to actually get on a regular routine
