Review: Aveeno Calm + Restore Triple Oat Serum and Oat Gel Moisturiser

When one of my faves Dr Shereene Idriss mentioned this range, I knew I had to check it out. Prior to now, when you need to hydrate your skin, everyone reaches for hyaluronic acid but we have since realized it is not the only hydrator that exists. This range also has a cleanser but I didn’t think it would be anything different from my beloved gentle cleansers so I got just the serum and moisturiser to try.

Brief description (moisturiser):

Soothe and hydrate sensitive, irritated facial skin with this gel moisturizer. This lightweight gel face cream formula, with nourishing prebiotic oat and calming feverfew, moisturizes for 24 hours.

Brief description (serum): Instantly soothe skin and fortify its moisture barrier with this hydrating face serum. Formulated with nourishing triple oat complex and calming feverfew, the facial serum is ideal for sensitive skin.

My thoughts…

First of all, I do not think anything moisturises for 24 hours….now that we have that out of the way……I used the serum daily but mostly after laser hair removal. The moisturiser is currently my only moisturiser. Both products are lightweight and I believe adequately hydrated given that the main ingredient is glycerin my skin but I always like to layer serums. The texture is really light and it worked well with my other products, no stinging, no pilling and it did not break me out.

To be honest, it was no miracle (I was not expecting any miracles). If you already use Cicaplast gel or any hydrating serum you believe is adequate then you do not need the serum. Same as the moisturiser. It is no ground-breaking barrier repairing product if you have your holy grail already but it is pleasant to use. I believe any ceramide rich moisturiser will do the same. However, the serum will be one of my top choices if for some reason I cannot find Cicaplast and I do not want to use hydrocortisone. It is also great for all skin types even if your barrier is not compromised.

While the range is targeted at sensitive skin, do not just rely on these, pay attention to your other skincare products and practices as that may be the cause of your sensitized skin

One issue I had with the serum though was the dropper. I know it was meant to be more clever but I was never able to get enough product with just one click. Also, I noticed the moisturiser got darker (compared to the feature picture). I hope this is still safe to use…

When I opened it in January 2021 vs May 2021

Will I repurchase? Probably not as I have my favourite products already. However, this is a great affordable product.

Have you tried this range? What are your thoughts?

xx

ABOUT ME

Hi Everyone

Thank you for visiting my blog

Those who know me personally or follow me on Instagram can attest to the fact that I love skincare. Thanks to my mum and aunt, I have been very interested in skincare since I was a teenager and would try all sorts of products on my face. Luckily I didn’t get acne as a teen but age happened and my skin went crazy.
